(Junior) M&A Analyst (m/f/d)

For our Corporate M&A department we are looking for a (Junior) M&A Analyst (m/f/d) located in any of our European countries.

You will become part of the Corporate M&A team of PHOENIX group’s headquarters and will contribute to improving health care across Europe by driving sustainable growth via acquisitions, greenfields and relocations, but also work on portfolio optimization via divestiture projects.

You will work on projects from all (or most) countries where you will support the Corporate M&A Team members who are each responsible for a set of countries. The role mean that you will soon develop into a position having to educate the local teams and developing ways to improve, for example via new or advanced best practices, tools & templates that improve life for all.

Your Tasks

  • You will support our three primary contacts, who are responsible for their respective countries and who align with Country M&A teams and Country Management team members
  • This means that you will get to see many proposals from all countries and across all business lines (albeit with a focus on retail) and types of transactions, which should enable you to learn quickly
  • You are in charge of bringing first draft proposals (send in by the country organisations) to high quality proposals, i.e. bring them to the level where the primary contacts can make recommendations to either approve or reject
  • You will be in direct contact with the countries from the start after proper introduction to the country teams and visit at least three countries during onboarding
  • You will be responsible for your own countries 6 -18 months after the start of your role depending on your experience and development
  • You create customized templates and will be in charge of certain non-project work, such as development and maintenance of valuation models

Your Profile

  • You have at least 2 years of working experience in PHOENIX
  • You are able to understand many different and complex business models quickly
  • Financial knowledge is the basis for every M&A professional - in case you don’t have such experience, that is ok and we are ready to invest in you, however, we will have to get comfort upfront of your “natural talent”
  • You have already shown to be a very strong communicator and know how to "take people by the hand"
  • You can relate to cultural differences and are able to bridge across
  • You already know PHOENIX, understand its culture, have a view on its processes and ideally also already had international contacts
  • You are fluent in English, other European languages are beneficial
  • Willingness to travel to Mannheim about 11 times a year and 1 to 3 times per year to other countries
  • You are able to go into details as well as understand the big picture

What we have to offer

  • Being part of a company that forms the backbone of Healthcare and is market leader in the pharmaceutical wholesale and retail sectors
  • Being part of an experienced international team with a high deal flow covering all countries and all business models, allowing you to quickly grow as an M&A professional
  • We have every interest to develop you into a strong M&A professional and the whole team will personally invest in you as well as are ready to provide you with appropriate external training
  • Clear Targets and a growth path to become Senior Analyst within one to three years and potential to develop further to become a Corporate M&A manager within 3-5 years
  • Intense onboarding period of 3-4 months, during which you work together physically with each team member and aim for you to have physical meetings at least once a week, which will be in Germany, France, Romania and Czech Republic, being the countries where the Corporate M&A team members are located
  • Highly flexible working approach, however, note that flexibility has to come both ways and does require structure in our view
  • Mobile office policy and competitive package
  • Monthly physical meetings in Mannheim

Please apply online including your salary expectation and your earliest possible starting date. Your contact person is Erik Sabo. We are looking forward to your application!
